FAMOUS OPERETTA ON SCREEN
’ THE DESERT SONG ' RETURNING The outstanding musical success, ‘ The Desert Song,’ will begin a return season at the Empire Theatre on Friday. Sigmund Romberg, who composed the music for this production, is one of the most prolific composers in the history of the stage, and has to his credit many of the most popular successes of recent years. The screen version of ‘ The Desert Song ’ in the magnificence and breadth of its production outdoes anything that could be attempted on the stage. The largest stage in any theatre in existence would not be large enough to accommodate the great. settings used in the screen production, and in addition the film includes scenes in n rocky pass in the mountains and endless vistas of the sandy wastes of the Moroccan Desert. John Boles has the leading role of the mysterious Red Shadow, while' other prominent players in the all-star cast are Louise Fazenda. Carlotta King, Myrna Loy, John Miljan, Johnny Arthur, Marie Wells, Jack Pratt, Edward Martindel, Robert E. German, and Ottp Hoffman.
