The totalisator handled £8,647, an increase of £4,817 on the second day last year. The total increase for the meeting, compared with last year, was £8,306. The field bunched at the home turn, and Alloy came on the outside with a great run, settling the issue at the distance. Carfex and Lady Spy fought out a great finish, the former gaining second place by a head. Senegal was fourth, and Fiji last. POVERTY BAY T.C. MALAHAT WINS CHIEF EVENT The summer meeting of the Poverty Bay Turf Club was held in good weather and on a fast course. This was the first time the dub had held a threeday meeting, and a comparison of the totalisator investments could only bo made with the Boxing Day meeting of 1932.
