LONDON SURPLUS ONLY 2i MILLIONS (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.! WELLINGTON, February 3. : Mr Hamilton,; the Minister in charge of the Statistician’s Department, quoted at Takaka the official details of New, Zealand’s overseas trade for the year, ended December 31, showing an excess in value of exports over imports ofi £15.425,000 on the basis of New Zealand currency, while the excess on « sterling basis is £12,340,000. The Minister declared that hs the dominion’s overseas interest and other liabilities were approximately, ten millions sterling annually,’the present accumulation of London funds was not excessive, for on the basis of the ■ export trade it was a.surplus.of about two and a-quarter millions, not five millions at exchange critics suggested.
