CARGILL ROAD
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —At the present time the works department of the Dunedin City Council is top-dressing one side of Cargill road, whilst the opposite side is an absolute disgrace. I had occasion to ring the city engineer’s office, and complain about the state of the road. The reply received was that, as it was a policy matter, the only recourse was to write to Mr Marlow (chairman of the Works Committee). The time has arrived when something should be done. I suppose we shall be told that it is the intention of the council to shift the tramline. Meanwhile ratepayers along the road must suffer from the maladministration of the works department. I suggest that my letter be referred to Mr Marlow for some definite reply as to when this disgraceful road is to *be improved.—l am, etc., T. H. Cahill. February 1.
