R. B. PLOWMAN AGAIN
The Man from Oodnadatta, R. B. Plowman, has written another colourful hook of reminiscences, ‘ Camel Pads.’ Like his earlier book. ‘ Camel Pads ’ has a haunting conviction that it is a faithful account of life. Mr Plowman’s parish extended from South Australia through Central Australia to the Northern Territory. Over this great expanse the padre rode his camel once a year, —taking four months for the trip north and four months for the return journey. He has met many strange people in the “bush.” and it is of them that he writes in a humorous, pathetic, and sympathetic style. The book is alive with incident' and pregnant with sketches of real people. Mr Plowman knows how to tell a story. ‘ Camel Pads ’ will be welcomed as a supplement to ‘ The Man from Oodnadatta.’ Messrs Angus and Robertson are the publishers.
