JAPANESE ACTIVITY NEGOTIATIONS ON COTTON INDUSTRY PENDING (British Official Wireless.) Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright RUGBY, January 30. (Received January 31, at noon.) Referring to the recent inquiries in' Lancashire by Mr Walter Runcimah (President of the Board of Trade) re* garding the cotton industry and Japanese competition overseas, Major Colville (Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade) said the Government fully realised the importance of the time factor in this problem. He added-that within. the-last twenty-four hours the Japanese Ambassador had informed the Government that representatives of the Japanese cotton industry and the Rayon. Textile Exporting Association had been authorised to enter into formal negotiations with representatives of the British! cotton industry. He trusted that the discussions would begin shortly.
