AUSTRALIAN SALES MELBOURNE AND BRISBANE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, January 31. (Received January 31, at 10.30 a.m.) At the wool sales the market was irregular, but satisfactory clearances were made. Comeback clip soW to 32d which is a comeback record for Australia this season. At the Brisbane wool sales there was keen competition and the market was very firm for all descriptions. Greasy merino sold to; 26Jd and scoured to 46-fd. The latter was the highest Australian price for the season.
AUCKLAND WOOL SALES COMPARATIVE FIGURES The total value of the wool sold at the second Auckland sale on January 15 was £455,455, an increase of £127,761 on the proceeds of the first sale on November 27.' Compared with the corresponding sale of the previous season the return, of the lasi sale was £307,005 higher. The distribution from the two sales so far held in Auckland amounts to £783,149, which is more than double the combined cheques for the three sales of last season, which _ aggregated £341,887. — Press Association
