BURNED IN OVEN
£IOO IN NOTES DESTROYED [Per United Press Association.! NELSON, January 30. ■ How a local business man lost £IOO in notes during the week-end was related to-day. Actually his week’s takings, excluding silver, which was unharmed, were baked in an oven while he was enjoying a bathe in the warm blue waters of Tasman Bay. Rushing off to a seaside cottage at Tahnnanui he did not have time to bank the money and hid his takings in an oven, as this was not being used during the holidays. A party of relatives arrived while he was absent at the seashore, however, and a fire was lighted to provide for the crowd. No one else apart from the business man himself knew what was being cooked in the oven.
