CHURCH IN GERMANY
BISHOP MUELLER AS DICTATOR Press Association' —By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON. January 29. The ‘ Daily Telegraph’s ’ Berlin correspondent says Bishop Mueller has completely crushed the opposition. He has promulgated a decree making himself dictator, to whom the heads of the other churches have capitulated. An important factor has been the tele-phone-tapping activities of General Gearing's secret police. The conversations of opposition pastors have been tapped and phrases culled and interpreted as showing disloyalty to Herr Hitler. The mass of the laity are in ignorance of the situation, as no papers are allowed to publish anything except Bishop Mueller's stateniemt. Protests from pulpits and meetings are also forbidden.
