MARY PICKFORD’S ALARM VrMt Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK, January 28. Mary Pickford arrived to-day guarded by four private detectives. She immediately secluded 'herself in her hotel suite, where she personally inspected the placing of special locks on all the doors. Her publicity representative admitted that her _ life story would shortly be published in a popular magazine. Miss Pickford insisted emphatically that the kidnap scare was real, although the suspected persons merely talked irrationally about “ a message from the ,spirit world.”
