Linden Lodge, No. 5, U.A.O.D.— The fortnightly meeting of the above lodge was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Roslyn, Arch Druid Bro. H. Tyrrell presiding. The usual business was dealt with, including an invitation from Lily of the Valley to visit their lodge and conduct an initiation ceremony. Following the drawing up of special entertainments, a general appeal was sent but in the shape of a circular letter asking members to roll up to meetings. It was also decided that in future our meetings commence at 7-30 sharp. The lodge was here adjourned, and a game of cards, A.D. versus V.A., was indulged in, the latter team winning. Welcome visitors were Bro. Morris, of Lily of the Valley, and Bro. Hislop, of Hope of St. Albans Lodge (Christchurch) . BAY LODGE, No. 18, U.A.O.D. Bay Lodge, No. 18, held its fortnightly meeting in the Masonic Hall, Pnnce Albert road, on Monday, January 22. Arch-Druid Bro. T. Allan presided over a splendid attendance. District Presidents Bros. Bezett and Morris attended officially, and were given a cordial reception, as also were the Arch-Druid, officers, and members- of Pride of Mornington Lodge and visiting members of other lodges. The bards’ report on the sick members showed an all-round improvement, and sick pay amounting to £5 6s 8d was passed for payment. . The correspondence included an invitation to Linden Lodge on Tuesday, J anuary 30, to witness the presentation of the efficiency shield, District President Bro. E. H. Bezett, as Arch-Druid and D.P. Bro. Morris is Vice-Arch, assisted by the other officers, carried out the initiation ceremony of Mr Colin M'Lay into the mysteries of Druidism. District-president Bro. E. H. Bezett, on behalf of Bay Lodf-e, presented to Past Arch Bro. J. A. Metcalf'a trophy for having passed through the_ chairs of the lodge. Bro. Metcilf suitably replied. The visitors and meiubers then_ sat down to play for the cribbage shield, and after an hour’s pky the scores were in favour of Pride of Mornington Lodge. Arch Druid Bro. T. Allan passed the shield over to the Are]i Druid of Pride of Mornington, expressing the hope that the playing for the shield would create added interest among the various lodges. Districtpresident Bro. Bezett congratulated Pride of Mornington on-the fine muster of their members and also on their win. Supper was served by the stewards, and altogether a very pleasant evening was spent. LILY OF THE VALLEY LODGX, No. 11. Arch Druid Bro. N. A. Ingle presided over a good attendance of iiembers of the Lily of the Valley L>dge No. 11, U.A.0.D., in the Albany Sireet Hall on Wednesday, January 24. The lodge was paid an official visit by Linden No. 5 and Ivanhoe N#._ 17 Lodges, who received a true, Ditiidic welcome from the brothers assembled. The officers of Linden Lodge weie invited to occupy the chairs for the evening, which they accepted, and csrried out thb business before the lodge! in a very creditable manner. The correspondence included iivitations from Royal Oak No. 3 and. Mistletoe No. 25 Lodges, which werl left on the table to be finally dealt; with next lodge meeting. The sick bards’ report were again small, and sick pay amounting jo £1 13s 4d was passed for payment. 1 It was moved that the lodge! challenge Pride of Mornington No. 14 for the cribbage shield, the date to )e arranged.
