WORK OH RESERVES

BATHGATE PARK FOR LADY BOWLERS The report of the Reserves Committee of the City Council details work that, is being carried out on the various reserves, and mentions that arrangements have been made for the reservation of a portion of Bathgate Bark for the Otago Ladies’ Bowling Association. The report states that the extensive work of levelling and top-dressing the Opoho Recreation Ground is now nearly completed. Levelling is being carried out at the Morningtou Ground, and levelling and turfing is proceeding at the Oval. At Tonga Park filling in and levelling is also proceeding, and clay is being got out for the formation of cricket ' wickets at both Tonga Park, and the Unity Ground. Top-dressing soil is also being got down for the formation of the wickets at Tonga Park and for top-dressing the existing wickets at Logan Park and the Oval next spring. Material for top-dress-ing the fairways of the golf course at Chisholm Park is being got out, and construction work on the pitch and putt golf course is proceeding. Arrangements have been made for the reservation for the Otago Ladies’ Bowling Association of a portion of Bathgate Park, which was drained some time ago for tennis courts. The association has under consideration a proposal to lay down a ladies’ bowling green on the area in the near future.
