* PEG O' MY HEART ’ / ~ One of the outstanding productions of the stage has'been transformed into what motion picture critics declare to be Marion Davies’s finest recent screen vehicle. This film, ‘ Peg o’ My Heart, will begin to-morrow at the Empire Theatre. • Marion Davies has turned in many good screen characterisations in the past, from ‘ Little .Old New York ’ to ‘Marianne’' and ‘The Bachelor Father,’ but the. new production will take its place, with her greatest triumphs, in the opinion of id° have already seen it. ‘Peg o’ M.v Heart’ tells" the winning and dramatic story of a motherless Irish girl .suddenly placed in an environment strange to her and confronted with the prospect of great riches. ‘ Peg 0’ My Heart was especially written for the stage and achieved tremendous popularity in all the leading cities of the world. A new leading man appears opposite the star iii this production. He is Onslow Stevens, who scored a great “hit’’ as the down-trodden author in ‘ Once in a Lifetime.’ and who has been lauded as one of the most likely candidates for future stardom. Other players in 1 Peg o’ My Heart ’ are J. Farrell MacDonald. Juliette Compton. Irene Browne. Tyrrell Davis. Alan Mowbray, Doris Lloyd. Robert Greig, Nora Cecil, and Geoffrey Gill. A special accompanying musical score was prepared by Herbert Stothart, and the picture also introduces two new songs, ‘ Sweetheart Darlin’,’ by Stothart and Gus Kahn, and ‘ I'll Remember,’ by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed. LADY ORGANIST. Miss Iris Mason, who recently finished an engagement at the Capitol Theatre, Melbourne, after which she appeared at the De Luxe Theatre in Wellington, will commence a season at the Empire’s Christie organ to-morrow. She is said to be a most capable technician, with a thorough understanding of each composer’s works. Her weekly programmes include original, popular, and classical items, and for her opening performance she promises to win much popularity with a comprehensive selection of melodies.
