Eckhold, the Otago intermediate diving champion, is contained in the ‘ Manawatu Daily Times ’ in regard to Eckhold’s ( victory in the intermediate boys’ diving championship of New Zealand. The Palmerston North paper states: “Eckhold was the only entrant, and gave a finished display, going through all the compulsory dives in a style that showed complete familiarity with the art, as well as adding a number of voluntary dives in the evening. Thai audience was fully entertained by the exhibition. Despite the lack of competition,. Eckhold fully deserved his title.” In connection with the 100yds junior boys’ New Zealand championship, A. Miss Pockson (Otago) drew level with Miss Low (Canterbury) at the end of the first lap. but could not sustain the effort, and under the pressure of the pace oyer the last 10yds lost her position. Miss Low got up nicely to win by a foot or two from Miss Merewethef (Wanganui), who finished just in front of the titleholder, Miss Pockson. The Otago team will return by the first express to-night.
