THE SAAR
POSITION BECOMING ACUTE GERMAN MISTRUST OF FRANCE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. BERLIN, January 17. Germany is adamant in her refusal to be represented at Geneva, even for the purposes of the Saar discussions. The Press generally regards the council’s invitation as a French trick, and with equal unanimity alleges that the Saar Governing Commission cannot be trusted to conduct the plebiscite fairly. It advocates a special commission, consisting of neutrals, to watch the plebiscite when it is held. A Saarbrucken message states that Saar ironworkers sent a message to Herr Hitler saying that they were prepared to continue the battle for what is German soil.
