(Received January 18, at 12.55 p.m.) It is announced that a number of friends of the British Museum have agreed to become guarantors that the public will subscribe £50,00 for the codex. . The purchase money, therefore, has already been paid to the Russian Embassy. Public subscriptions thusfar amount to £IO,OOO. [The purchase price was £100,000.]
