DISCOVERED IH SOUTHLAND [Special to the Star.] m. CHRISTCHURCH, January 17.- ' Referring to a unclassified veronica (Hebe) plant which was discovered at Gow’s Lake, in the Garvio Range (Southland), Mr H. L. Darton, : i secretary of the Christchurch Horti-; cultural Society, stated that he had merely brought specimens of the ’ plant * north for identification and description * j and did not wish to claim the distinc-| tion of discovering it. It had been! known to Mr James -Spedeh, of Gore t! J for some years, and consequently Mr!' Speden was the discoverer and- collector, of it- . , . . “ It appears to be quite distinct from any of the species listed in Cheeseman’s ‘ Manual of New Zealand Flora,* Mr Darton said, “and will be handed over to the proper authorities for identification and description.” "
