LABOUR PARTY PROPAGANDA.

TO'THE EDlfOll.' ’

Sir, —‘ Women and the Labour Movement ’ is the title of a pamphlet which was being sold to .unsuspecting workers at an open-air meeting at the Gardens on Sunday. , I was one of the curious who invested one penny to see'what the Labour Party was, offering to New,Zealand wage-earners, both male ■ aiiid female. While the pamphlet rwas written by Mrs M'Combs, M.P., the.statements made by her are endorsed by the Labour Party, and can tlierefpre.be taken as a guide to the, general trend' of thought in the’ movement.f ; Oii : perusing the document I discovered' it to be full of contradictions and with as .many abstract and .vague promises as:, were ever, made by followers of Messrs Coates and Forbes. Reference was made to co-operation, but the only inference one could gather from such talk was that the Labour Party was anxious to create a friendly harmony between Workers and their employers, -on the assumption ' that such a ; relationship woultl bring prosperity to the workers. On another side of the pamphlet reference was made to the Labour Party’s desire to foster Socialism,, which,, in effect, ' means social ownership and the complete abolition of exploitation of man by man. Tlie Labour Party also offers all kinds of remedies to make the existinjg social order—commonly known as Capitalism!—more '.“tolerable ” to the depressed section of the community; and yet the Labour leaders have the‘audacity to talk of Socialism. Seyeral other, glaring contradictions, were manifest, but I think the instance given is sufficient to warn workers of the treacherous nature ;of the Labour Party’s policy and a Very .good reason why Labour Party politicians ijre . no longer .regarded as “ dangerous” and a “ menace ” to the existinjg social order, which every intelligent individual can clearly see has outlived its usefulness in promoting human progress and development. I am afraid Labourites have forgotten the original'purpose of the Labour - movement for the .sake of a comfortable seat and a handsome remuneration for babbling away in the talk shop and assisting to maintain the general belief that Parliament governs the country, whereas its function really assumes the role of a.ploak for the dictatorship of vested interests.- —I' am, etc., / Disillusioned. January 16.
