FORTY MILES OF LIGHT
1,850 LAMPS ON CANNES ROAD MONTE CARLO, December 26. A great step has just been taken towards reducing the number of motor accidents on the Riviera. An extensive electric lighting system along nearly forty miles of the main highway between Cannes and the Italian frontier, with an extension between Cannes and Grasse, has been inaugurated. About 1,850 powerful lamps make driving as safe- by night as by day. It is possible to read a newspaper at ary point along the whole distance. Headlights are now unnecessary, and their use .will probably, be prohibited.;
