AIR MAIL CONTRACTS
THE SENATE INQUIRY MR HOOVER, JUN., DENIES ALLEGATIONS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright WASHINGTON, January 14. Mr H. C. Hoover, jun., to-day denied intimations before the Senate Investigation Committee that he helped the Western Air Express to get_ lucrative mail contracts. He said that in 1930 he anticipated possible criticism of his connection with the air line and offered his resignation, although his father told him it was not necessary, hut the company declined to accept the resignation. He declared that during the .mail contract negotiations he was on ] leave recuperating from an illness. Outside 350 shares in the company’s securities, which he bought with his savings, he had no financial interest in the concern excepting an annual salary of 5,000d0l as technician.
