[By St. Cn*i*.l:, ■ Tlie weather was favourable for tho concluding day of the Vincent Jockey Club’s annual race meeting, and there was, again an excellent attendance, the gate receipts , being about £2O better than.on the correspondingday last year. The course was in good order, but inclined to be a little dusty towards the close of the day. The racing was more interesting than on the opening, day, and -again backers of first-favourites had a bad time. ' ‘ The totalisator, handled £3,011 10s, as compared-with £2,726 on the second day last year, making the total Tor the meeting £6,412 10s, an increase of £1.059 10s.

Punctuality was more closely observed than on the opening day, and the fixture was well conducted. Despite the fact, that the taxation in, connection with the meeting to ' £583,75, the’fixture .will result in a satisfactory surplus to the club’s funds. Daring Deed was made £1 better favourite for the Valley Hack Handicap, to the stake of which Mr Pearson’s handsome silver cup was attached. The small field gave a lot of trouble at the barrier, and was sent away from a moving in start, Quite Soon getting the worst of it. Flying Amy and Daring Deed led qut of the straight, but after going two furlongs Daring Deed gave way to Great Weather and she followed Flying Amy and Great Weather to the home turn, where the field bunched. Once in the strajght Daring Deed drew away to win easily by six lengths from Trivet, who appeared to get into trouble .racing across the hack. Flying Amy was four lengths away third, with Quite Soon a poor fourth. Master Anomaly, who was meeting the same two horses that lie beat on the opening day on only a few pounds worse terms, was sent out a short-priced favourite for the Lauder Handicap, and ,waj never, off the bit to beat Last March easily by two lengths. First Soiig was only a neck off third. Only Lohengrin and Electric Chimes were backed foi the Poolbutn Saddle Trot, the former carrying nearly £SO more than Electric Chimes. The lastnamed and Santabrigada quickly drew right away from the others oh the limit. At the end of six furlongs Lohengrin ran up to Electric Chimes, but half a mile later stopped very quickly, and Electric Chimes ran homo a very easy winner by fifteen lengths from Santabrigada, who beat Lohengrin by ten lengths. Queensberry Wilkes was a iv)or fourth. Cherry Queen was made n much better favourite than either M‘Nab or Money Flics for the Cambrian Hack .Ifamlicr I .'. b;if none of them had a chance’ with Norman Conquest. The latter started from next the rails in this

race, and stood up to the barrier very quietly. Ho jumped out smartly with Cherry Queen and Money Flies; and after a furlong had been covered ho and Cherry. Queen went on in front, with Money Flies and M‘Ndb next. The last named received a check before reaching the far turn. Cherry Queen and Norman Conquest were still together at the home turn, with M'Nab and Money Flies next. Norman Conquest drew out in the straight to beat M'Nab by, four lengths, with Money Flies a length away third and Dodge, Natornis, and Cherry Queen were next.

Black Duke was sent out £7 10s better favourite than Amy Johnson for the Lochella Cup, but had no chance with the mare. She was first out, and led all the way. Black Duke tailed the field for over five furlongs, then ran up into second .place, but had no chance of catching Amy Johnson, who won easily by four lengths. Sunward was three lengths away third, and Fair Exchange beaten off. The Manuherikia Harness Trot produced the most interesting light harness contest at the meeting. Frank Mao was sent out a much better favourite than either Captain Bingen or Chiming Hilly, but again failed to stay out the distance. Captain Bingen stood on his mark, and Ardgonr began very quickly, and from the 12yds mark was in charge at the end of a furlong, leading Chiming Billy, Wynross, Electric Chimes, and Frank Mae at the end of half a mile. Going'to the far turn the field was racing in close order, with Ardgour just , clear, of Frank Mac, Electric Chimes, and Chiming Billy, who were on even terms. Then Frank Mao retired beaten, and Ardgour led Chiming Billy and Electric Chimes into the straight. Chiming Billy headed off Ardgour at the distance, and won by three lengths from Electric Chimes, who also passed Ardgour in the run home and beat him by a similar distance. Frank Mac was a fair fourth, and Wj'nross was next.

The best betting pool of the fixture was invested on the eight horses that contested the Dunstan Hack Handicap, and Silk Paper was installed favourite, with strong support also forthcoming for Pink Paper, Norman Conquest (who was penalised 81b for his former win), M‘Nab. and Silver Lark. Money Flies and Norman Conquest were the smartest to begin, and led along the back and across the top from Silk Paper and Silver Lark. Moliey Flies retired at the turn, for home, and Norman, Conquest, improving with each race, entered the straight two lengths clear pf Money Flies and Silk Paper. The latter made a good challenge, but failed by a short head to reach Norman Conquest. M'Nab, who got a bad passage racing across the top, finished fast two lengths away third, a head in front of Money Flies. Flying Amy and Pink Paper were nest
