.SOUTHERN CROSS. The ,Southern Gross, piloted by Sir Charles Kingsl'ord Smith, with four of a crew and five passengers, including Lady Smith, left New Plymouth at 12.50 for Foxton, preceded by the Otago Waco plane with three passengers. Sir Charles intends to return to New Plymouth about the middle of March to refit for the return Tasman flight.— Press Association. EARTHQUAKE DISASTER. The tjartjiquako was well recorded at the Dominion Observatory. The first waves reached hero at two minutes past 'nine last night. The tremors did not fade away till twenty-six minutes past midnight.
