STRIKE BALLOT ’ The ballot on a proposed national-un-employed strike will be taken this weekj The City Council has granted the use of the old Labour Bureau room in the Town Hall to the Unemployed Workers’* Movement, which is taking the’ Ballot,; The booth will be open, for voting between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Wednesday to Friday and bn Saturday’ from 10 till noon. Voting on this question will take place throughout New Zealand simultaneously. As soon Vas returns come in they will be sent to Wellington, and ah unemployed conference will ba held to consider the results. The ballot paper will be very simple. There is a question, “ Are you in favour of : * National Strike? ” and the replies “Yes” and “ No,” one of which the voter is asked to strike out. Mr J ohn Robinson, secretary of the Trades and Labour Council, is acting as chief returning officer MATINEES FOR CHILDREN The 'Mayor (the Rev. E. T. Cox)' stated this morning that all the, children of relief workers, would .be'bntertained at 2.15-on certain afternoons next week at the Empire Theatre, the days of attendance for the various districts being as follow :— Monday, No. 2 district; Tuesday,, No. 4_ district; Wednesday, Nos. 1 and 7 districts Thursday, Nos. 8 e 6, and 8 districts. iC
