RESEARCH COUNCIL ESTABLISHED
GRANT FROM CARNEGIE CORPORATION [Per United Press Association,] WELLINGTON, November 30. In March the Carnegie Corporation ol New York appointed a committee consisting of Professor Hunter (convener), Messrs Milner and Rac to report on a proposal to establish in Now Zealand a council for educational research. The committee reported in August, and Professor Hunter has just received word from New York that the corporation has decided to found a research council and provide it with an annual grant of 17,500d0l for five years. The corporation is inviting the following to constitute the first council:— Professors Gould, Hunter, Shelley, Messrs Gilray, Milner, Rac, and T. if. Wells. A meeting of the council will be bold as soon as possible and steps taken to organic branches in the main centres.
