NO REST BY DAY—NO SLEEP BY NIGHT

WOMAN WITH SEVERE NEURITIS MW FREE FROM PAIR For the benefit of other* who mar he troubled with the complaint she suffered from, a grateful woman writes: — “ Last May I had a very severe attack of neuritis in the leg, which made it impossible for me to rest during the day, or to sleep at nights—to say nothing of the intense pain. “ Various medicines gave me very little relief, and a friend advised me to give Krusclien a trial, as she had derived benefit from it whilst suffering similarly. I am so thankful that I took her advice. From the very first bottle I felt relieved, and now I am quite free from pain, and get a good night’s sleep. You may make what use you wish of this testimony, as I feel so grateful for the benefit I have derived.”— (Mrs) H.C. Most of the mvslerv pains that people suffer from can be tracked down to one root cause —constipation. Remember that regularity is not enough. There must be complete elimination or the waste products of digestion. Not drastic, but complete. Neuritis, like rheumatism, lumbago, and sciatica, is caused by deposits of needlepointed, flint-hard, unc acid crystals, which pierce the nerves and cause those stabbing pains. Kruschen breaks up these deposits of torturing crystals and converts them into a harmless solution, which is promptly removed through the natural channel —the kidneys. And because Kruschen keeps the inside so reg.ular—so completely free from fermenting waste matter—no such body poisons as uric acid ever p-et the chance to accumulate again Kruschen Salts is obtainable at all Chemists and Stores at 2/6 per bottle.

bend when recommissioned. Victoria channel is maintaining a low-water depth of 20ft 6in, with the exception of the shoals as stated in the last report. These will be attended to as soon as possible. Plans of the Dunedin and Port Chalmers wharves will show the depths at the various berths. The report was adopted. ENGINEER’S REPORT. The engineer (Air J. AUG. Wilkie) submitted the following monthly progress report:— The dredge Otakau did 51,800 cubic yards of maintenance dredging and moved thirty-five loads, the locality being Harrington bend. Of this material, thirty-three loads or 48,840 cubic yards were deposited at sea, and two or 2,960 cubic yards at the dredge Vulcan. During the month the dredge steamed 324 miles and consumed 99.52 tons of fuel oil. The majority of the shoal patch at Harrington bend was removed to a minimum depth of 30ft, low water, but the dredge will return for a, week on completion of her annual overhaul, to complete_ the work between red beacons 4 and 5. Dredge Vulcan.—During the month dredge Vulcan pumped 2,960 cubic yards of material received from dredge Otakau into the Mussel Bay reclamation area. Dredge Priestmau. —On October 16 dredge Priestman was put in commission to dredge a cut from the boat harbour entrance out to the six foot contour to facilitate the entrance of launches. The channel had become very shallow and is being deepened to 6ft at low water. Thirty-nine punt loads or 698 cubic yards were dredged, the Vulcan’s crew being employed in carrying out the work. Docks.—During the mouth the following docking operations carried out: —Vessels docked, 3; No. of pumps, 3 Port Chalmers dock. The drainage pumps were in operation for 240 h 25miu. The electric crane was in operation in the board’s service during repairs to the dock floor. Aide Reconstruction. —During the period of four weeks ended October 28. the following operations were carried out at the quarry:—3,l4o cubic yards of stone were deposited on the mole and 1,935 cubic yards of debris at the swamp reclamation. Dock Workshop.—The repairs to the dock workshop - were carried out during the month by the contractor. All the work was carried out by the contractor in a satisfactory manner. Dock Forge.—The dismantling of this building was completed. The principals and columns are to he cleaned and painted and stacked for future use. Various repairs were executed to the dock fencing. Port Chalmers Wharves.—Portion of the wharf adjacent to the waterside workers’ building was coated with tar and sand. Dock Floor. Preliminary repairs were executed to the floor of the Otago dock, 15 square yards being opened up to a depth of 16in. Considerable leakage is taking place, and the concrete removed was badly disintegrated. A new slab was constructed, and cement grout forced under the new work under pressure, sealing up all leaks. Approximately 200 square yards of the dock floor require renewal, and an estimate for the work will be submitted in this year’s estimates. . Lower Harbour Beacons. Red beacon No. 4 at Harrington bend, which ivas unavoidably knocked over during dredging operations, was replaced tvith a single pile fitted with ladder and lamp, and the old beacon recovered and brought to Dunedin and dismantled. A new beacon will be erected when opportunity offers. Relief Works.—Relief workers wer* employed erecting walls for reclamation purposes at the south endownment and Leith estuary areas and pitching the south endowment wall. Harbour Survey.—The dredge cut_ between red beacons 3 and 5 in Harrington Point bend was sounded on two occasions as dredging proceeded. The dredge cut near Kilgour’s Point was also sounded and the soundings plotted. Current measurements were taken ora both ebb and flood tides between beacons 2 and 5 lower harbour, with a view to obtaining further information regarding the reasons for the recent shoaling in Harrington Point bent. The report was adopted.
