GIFTS FOR LEPERS
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—On behalf of the lepers at Makogai, I wish to thank most warmly the people of the South Island foi the very kind gifts given so, gencrousiy this year. At the same time I would like to express my appreciation to tbs ‘Evening Star’ for givings so ranch publicity to this appeal. Without the assistance of the newspapers we could do very little indeed. Up till to-day * have received £99 10s 3d in cash jukl about five cases of goods. We are closing this appeal on Saturday, November 18, and for about a, week after this date we shall be busily engaged packing up gifts and shipping them.; Any donation received by November 25 will be in time to be sent by the steamer arriving at Makogai before Christmas. Donations received after this date will be sent on by a later steamer. All money is spent in New Zealand by a committee , conversant with the wants of the patients.
