YOUTH AND GIRL ESCAPADE
DECAMP WITH CAR GAOL SENTENCE FOR FORMER [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, November 15. A young man and a girl who, were arrested .at Whangarei after being found asleep in a motor car at an early hour on the morning of October 29, appeared in the Police Court to-day on four charges of theft and two oi unlawful conversion of a motor vehicle. The accused, Roy Taylor, aged twentytwo, and .lean Gwendoline Brown, aged eighteen, were jointly charged with unlawfully converting to their own use a motor car valued at £IOO and a motor van valued at £4O, and with stealing 12 gallons of petrol, worth £1 3s, an attache case, a knife and spoon, food, snndrv articles of clothing, money, and a'box of .22 calibre rifle cartridges of a total value of £2 14s 6d. Taylor was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on each of the conversion charges and on one of the charges of theft, the terms to bo cumulative, milking nine months in On the remaining counts he was convicted and discharged. No convictions were entered against the female accused the case against her being adjourned for twelve months on condition that she reported as required during that period.
