Gale, s.s. (10.5 a.m.), 567 tons, Davies, from Wanganui via Wellington. Holmdale, s.s. .(11.30 a.m.), 688 tons, Copland, from Wanganui via WellingSAI LED.—November 9. Waipiata, s.s. (6 p.m.), 2,826 tons, Chatfichl, for Bluff. The AVaiipiata, which left last evening for Bluff, returns here to-morrow morning to load out for Timaru, Lyttelton, Pietoii, Wellington, and Auckland. She leaves this port to-morrow afternoon. An arrival this morning was the Gale, from Wellington. She is timed to sail again to-night for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Pieton, and Wanganui. From Wellington the Holmdale came in this morning. The vessel is to leave again to-night for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Pieton, and Wanganui. The Poolta is duo here on Tuesday from BlufUto load out for Wellington, Napier, aud Gisborne via ports. The Opihi also loads at Dunedin on Tuesday for Wellington, Nelson, and New, Plymouth via the usual ports. Duo to-morrow afternoon from the north, the Port Whangarei is to sail from this port on Alonday for Tiinaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, _ Tauranga, Auckland, and Whangarei. The British steamer Salvns was despatched from Galveston, Texas, on October 22 with a cargo of sulphur, which will be put off at Auckland, A\ellington, and Wanganui. She is due at Auckland about November 18. The Salvns is a steamer of 4,815 tons, and was built at Newcastle-on-Tyne in 1928. PERSONAL. Mr -J. Boardhouse has been appointed third mate on the Waipiata. WAIKAWA LEAVES LOS ANGELES.. The Waikawa cleared Los Angeles at 12.30 a.m. on Alonday for Papeete, whore she is due on November 19, Nukualofa, Auckland, Wellington, New Plymouth, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Australian ports. She is due to arrive in Auckland on December 3. NORTHUMBERLAND IN BALLAST. The Northumberland left Falmouth on Sunday morning in ballast for New Zealand ports. No ports have as yet been allotted her, hut she is expected to arrive in New Zealand about December 18. , PORT HARDY AT’ LONDON. The Port Hardy, which left Auckland on September 21 for London via Cape Horn, arrived at London on November 5.

THE SCHOONER HUIA. The Nobel auxiliary schooner Huia left Bunbury on Saturday l'or_ Melbourne, where she is due about November 16. The vessel will load explosives at Melbourne for Sydney, Auckland, and southern ports. THE NEW PORT CHALMERS. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line’s new motor ship Port Chalmers, which was launched early in September, is scheduled to leave London on January 9 for Melbourne. Sydney, Hobart" and Launceston on her maiden voyage. WAIRUNA FROAI PACIFIC COAST. The Union Company’s Wairuna, from Pacific coast ports, is to leave Wellington to-morrow for Lyttelton and Dunedin to continue discharging Canadian and American cargo. She is due at this port next Wednesday. ROTORUA AT AUCKLAND. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rotorua, from Glasgow aud Liverpool, arrived at Auckland yesterday. She will later complete discharge at Wellington, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Timaru, and is due at this port about November 21. WAIKOUAITFS ITINERARY. The Union Company advises that the Waikouaiti, on her subsequent trip from Sydney, will call at Hobart to load cargo for Bluff. Dunedin, Timani. and Lyttelton. The vessel is due at, Dunedin on the present trip on November 16. and will load at Hobart about December 4. The call at Hobart will enable shippers to forward cargo from Dunedin and other South Island ports. PACIFIC AIAIL LINERS. Tiic Union Company’s R.M.S. Makura, en route from San Francisco via Papeete, left Rarotonga on November 7 for Wellington and Sydney. She is due at Wellington on Alonday morning. The Union Company’s R.AI.S. Maungauui, en route from Sydney and Wellington, via Rarotonga, left Papeete on November 7 for San Francisco, where she is due on November 17. INTERISLAND PASSENGER SERVICE. The Wahine. from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at G. 45 this morning, and passengers and mails caught the south express. WAINUI AWAY FROM MELBOURNE. Having left Melbourne at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, the Union Company’s steamer Wainui is crossing to New Zealand ports. She is due at Bluff early next week, and at Dunedin on Tuesday, later calling at Lyttelton and Wellington. Transhipment cargo ex the following steamers is being carried by the Wainui:—Tudor, Mooltan, Orford, Alagdenburg, Djambi, Balrauald, Auehises, Armadale, Hatimura. EASTERN CARGOES. There has been a rearrangement in the Eastern cargo service to New Zealand. The Union Corapan.y’s chartered steamer Narbada now loads early in December at Calcutta and Rangoon only, discharging at Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, and Bluff, while the cargo from Penang, Singapore, and Samarang will be picked up by the company’s Karetu, which is expected to reach Auckland during tho first week in January. STEAMER ABEL TASMAN. The 2,042-ton steamer Abel Tasman, which is at present making her first trip to New Zealand in the intercolonial trade, was formerly the Norwegian steamer Nord, and her previous name was Mont Blanc. She was built at Ambacht, Holland, in 1916. The A lie! Tasman arrived at Melbourne from the Baltic early in September, and after the discharge of her timber cargo she was taken over by her new owners, H. C. Sleigh Lid., Sydney, who intend using her in the intercolonial cargo service. Before leaving Melbourne for New South Wales ports to load her present cargo she was refitted to comply with Australian regulations, and she was also registered at Melbourne.
