AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS

[Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON. October 18. In the New Zealand Amateur Championships in the first round of the middle-weight class, C. Rickards (Wanganui) 11.4 beat L. Goughian (Otago) 10.13 on points. The majority of the finals were decided to-night the bouts were distinctly good and were characterised by the physical fitness of the participants. Wellington and Auckland divided the honours, each centre winning three titles. The other went to Wanganui. The new champions for 1933 are • Bantam-weight,— L. Nolan, Wellington. Feather-weight.—C. Wilson, Auckland. Light-weight.—B. Bullock, Wanganui. Welter-weight.—S. Lack, Wellington. Middle-weight.—H. Johnson, Auckland. Light-heavy-weight.-—B. Douglas, Auckland. Heavy-weight.—lT. B. Godfrey, Wclllington.
