RIFLE SHOOTING

KIWI DEFENCE CLUB - The members of the above club fired the third and, final competition of the President’s Match and Huntly Cup last Saturday afternoon Ten shots and two optional sighters were fired at 500 and 600 yards. The weather conditions were anything but good, a gusty fishtail wind at the last range upsetting scores considerably. Rifleman R. Bowie proved to bo tho match winner, and will hold the Huntly Cup for one year. Following are tho scores, with handicaps, also prize-winners:—

DUNEDIN DEFENCE CLUB The Dunedin Defence Rifle Club shot the third competition counting for the club’s championship and Murray trophy on Saturday afternoon. There was an attendance of fourteen, and ten shots {two optional sighters) each were fired .at 500 and 600 yards. Weather conditions affected the attendance, ami (hough there was only a light shower variable wind and light made shooting conditions very difficult, and for the most part scoring was below the average; however, some good scores were registered, notably Deputy-president J. T. Gillan, 46 at 500yds, and Riflemen R. O. Graham and R. A. Hankie, 44 each at 600yds. Rifleman R. G. Graham headed the day's aggregate with 87. Polio wing are' the highest scores: —

Feltham, of Gonlburn, in addition to securing the King's Prize, also won the grand aggregate with a score of 630 points out of a possible 655, thus losing less than two points per range. In the whole meeting the New Zealanders' grand aggregate scores were; Carter 610, Eucena 597.
