Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Gisborne, and Napier. The Coptic, having completed discharging her Dunedin cargo from London, sailed for Lyttelton yesterday, arriving early this morning. The Waipiata was to leave Wellington to-day, and is due at Dunedin on Wednesday. She is to proceed to Bluff the same day, and will return hero to load out on Saturday for Picton, Wellington, and Auckland via Timaru, Lyttelton, and Picton. The Opihi is to leave Wellington for DUunedtn direct to-morrow. She is duo on Thursday, when she will load out for Wellington, Nelson, New Plymouth via ports. The Titoki.is expected to leave Wellington on Friday for Dunedin direct. Due on Sunday, she is to scail again on Tuesday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, Gisborne, and Tauranga. . Tho Waimarino will be the next Union Company’s boat loading at Auckland for the south. She will leave the northern port on. Friday for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff. She is due here on October 26, on day later than usual on account of the holiday on Labour Day. The Storm arrived from Wellington this morning, and is to sail to-night for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Foxton is scheduled to arrive from Lyttelton on Wednesday, and will sail the same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, and "Wellington. * ’The Wingatui sailed on Saturday to complete loading for Wellington and Auckland at Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton.

The Holmdale. which arrived this morning, is to sail later to-day' for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui via ports. The Gale is due from Bluff on Wednesday, and is to sail later in the clay for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Wanganui. Tho Port Whangarei is to load at Dunedin on October 25 for Tauranga, Auckland, and Whangarei. The iuterislaml express liner Maori, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 7 a.m. yesterday. WAIKOUAITI ON' THURSDAY, The Waikouaiti left Sydney on Saturday for New Zealand ports. She is cine here on Thursday, and will probably sail on Friday for Timaru and Lyttelton to complete discharging. CARGO FROM LOS ANGELES. The Wairuna left Los Angeles on October 12 with cargo from Pacific Coast ports for Auckland, Wellington, Lyt-, telton, Dunedin, Bluff, and Australian ports. She is due at Auckland on November 0. PORT GISBORNE FOR DUNEDIN. The C. and D. motor vessel Port Gisborne left London on October 12 for Dunedin and Lyttelton via Suva. She is expected about November 21. OLD-TIME R RECOND IT lONE D. Having served ’for twenty-nine years as a trawler and coastal trader before being laid up in “ Rotton Row at Auckland, the Baroona, a well-known steamer, was recently reconditioned am! a new motor engine fitted. Some of the equipment from the old mission steamer Southern Cross V. was used for tho renovation. The Baroona was built in 1904. 'PEES ITINERARY ALTERED. The 'Pecs left - Wailangi at 4 o'clock on Friday afternoon, and was due at Lyttelton last night. Her itinerary' has been altered. The Federal Company has received a wireless message from tho Cumberland, en route from Liverpool, reporting that she expects - to reach Auckland at 6 p.m, next Tuesday. She - will later complete discharge at Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, and is due here on October 24 or 25. THE GOLDEN CROSS. The American steamer Golden Cross was scheduled to leave Los Angeles yesterday with cargo from Pacific Coast ports for discharge at Auckland and in Australia. She is due at Auckland about November 10. NEW SHAW-SAVILL VESSELS. In each of the two 12-000-ton motor cargo liners which Harland and Wolff are building for the Shaw, Savill Line, a Clarkson exhaust gas boiler will be installed. The boiler will be designed to utilise a percentage of the gases from one of the two Harland-B. and W. pressure-charged four-stroke engines, ami is Oft in diameter with an overall height of loft. The evaporation when working on exhaust gases will be I,ooolb per hour. _ The boiler is fitted with a combustion chamber to take oil-burning equipment, and will generate 2,0001 b per

hour from oil fuel. The working pres-1 sure is 1001 b per square inch. Each { unit is of the Clarkson simplex type, j allowing accessibility to the water and gas space, without the need for head room or the removal, of any externa! piping for inspection.
