SPORTS MEETINGS The following clubs held sports meetings on Staurday:— PACIFIC. Pacific held its meeting at Ellis Park. Owing to the rough nature of the track there were no outstanding performances. The sports were controlled by Messrs Gibson, Downing, and Buskin. Mr Watson acted as timekeeper. Results ; 100 Yards,—First heat: F. Mouat (3yds) 1, J. Pledger (4yds) 2, D. Lucas (3yds) 3. St. Kilda held its meeting at Hancock Park, St. Kilcla. The first event on the card was the 100yds Handicap, which was won hy H. A. Brown off the, scratch mark. L. A. Anderson (9yds), was a close second, with L. Carter (3yds) third. Time, llsec. H. A. Brown was also the successful competitor in the 220yds championship, winning this event by a fair margin from H. S. Ryan. G. Ross just managed to stave off L. Cater for third position. Time, 2-1 4-ssoc. The 880yds Handicap provided a keen contest, the backmarkers being set a difficult task by the limit men, L. Anderson and L. R. Johnstone. The issue was in doubt until about syds from the tape. However, L. R. Johnstone (100yds) maintained his.lead, and secured a win from H. S. Ryan (10yds), with L. Anderson (100yds) 3yds back third. Time, 2min Msec. Although the broad jump provkl an interesting event, several competitors marred their chances of success by registering a scries of no jumps. The Hanover Baptists held their second meeting at Logan Park. Competition in both divisions was decidedly keen, as was evidenced by the very close finishes. Beecher third. The high jump resulted- in a win for- J. Guthrie.. E. Beecher was second and A. Lysaght third. The 440yds was a good race, and in a very close, finish J. M'Gregor was first, J. Lormwr 1, J. Ferguson 2, R. Weatherston 3. J. Lonmer, off 40yds, quickly went to the front, and beat the scratch man by 10yds, with Weatherston two yards back. Time, 51 4-ssec. One Mile.—A. Storer 1, A(. Sturgeon 2, J. Ferguson 3. Storer ran a welljudged race to finish with 30yds _ to spare, and Ferguson five yards behind the second man after going a very solid race. Time, 4min 59sec. Lothian again proved himself too good on the day, especially in the 220yds championship. Another competitor in this event was J. Howie, who was handicapped through an injury to his foot, and did well to finish third. The 880yds handicap was a good contest between the scratch and limit men. J. Lothian (scr) caught the limit man, J. Bolithoe, about 10yds from the tape, and with
