WELLINGTON PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP The Wellington provincial road cycling championship was decided at Petone on Saturday over a 100-kilo-metre course, tho race being won by F. Blackett (Poneke) in the good time of 3h 6min 40Jsec. O. Disley (Port Nicholson) was runner-up, and A. L. Roberts (Hutt Valley) was third. OTAGO AMATEUR CLUB A fair muster of fourteen riders faced the starter, Mr Fletcher, for_ the race to Clarendon and return, a distance of fifty-three miles, at Green Island on Saturday. Fine weather again favoured tho riders, and a slight tail wind on the outward journey assisted them. The start saw Seque and Ralston riding off limit, leaving ISinin ahead of tho scratch men, Lucas, Foster, and M'Cullum. At tho turn the scratch men had made up Bmin on the leading bunch and had dropped Greenfield and Kilner. Foster and Blackie punctured at this stage, and Lucas fell. On the way home Lucas caught Gilchrist and A. Blackie, who was riding a little ahead. Coming up Saddle Hill M'Cullum left Paterson and Smart to finish on his own, Imin ahead of Smart, with Paterson third. The official placings wereM'Cullum (2h 24min 9 3-ssec) 1, Smart (2h 24min oOsec) 2, Paterson (2h 33min 4.ssec) 3. Fastest time also went to M'Cullum.
