No. I Triumph Juvenile Lodge held its fortnightly meeting in the Kensington Hall. The meeting was presided over by W.M. Sister Packer, who was assisted by a full staff of officers under the supervision of P.W.M. Bro. George Hellyer. Superintendent P.G.M. Bro. A,. Devlin, Sister Black, and Sister Bogby were present and received a cordial welcome from the W.M, After the conclusion of the business a pleasant hour was spent in games. At the Triumph Lodge, No. 9, fortnightly meeting there was a large attendance of members to meet the W.M., Bro. George Perrin, who presided. He was assisted by P.M. Bro. W. O’Neill and Chaplain Bro. Mathewson in the opening exercises of the lodge. A largo amount of correspondence was dealt with. An invitation to visit Valley True .Blue Lodge was accepted, and an invitation to attend the jubilee church service of our sister lodge on October 1 was received. The fortnightly meeting of the Ladies’ Lodge, No. 1, Pride of the Valley, was neld in the Orange Hall, Leith street. W. Mistress Sister Currie presided, and was supported by the chaplain, Sister Gardiner, in the opening exercises of the lodge. Two candidates were initiated into the order, the ceremony being conducted by the W.M, The lodge was then closed and a visit was paid to Valley True, Blue, No. 11. The quarterly summoned meeting of the Loyal Excelsior Lodge, No. 41, was held on Wednesday in the P.A. Hall, Green Island. W.M. Bro. J. 0, Lindsay presided, and was assisted by the P.M., Bro. H. A. Christie, chaplain, in the opening exercises of the lodge. There was a large attendance of members. Visitors admitted and welcomed were W.M. Bro. Groves (Valley True Blue Lodge, No. 11), P.M. Bro. J. Robb (Triumph Lodge, No. 9), W.G.M. Bro. J. Harvey, and Grand Executive officers. Invitations to attend the halfyearly combined church parade of the mayor, councillors, and friendly societies ot the borough for Sunday, September 24, and also for the jubilee church parade of Valley True Blue were accepted, and representatives were appointed. Sick pay and accounts were passed for payment. The quarterly meeting of the Valley True Blue juveniles, hold in the Orange Hall on Tuesday, attracted a good attendance of members. The W.M., Bro. Young, assisted by Chaplain Bro. S. Sinclair, opened the lodge, all officers being present. Superintendent Bro. D. Reid presented a handsome model yacht tor competition purposes, and was thanked by the W.M. Members were reminded of the jubilee “ treat ” to be given by No. 11 on September 30 and the church parade on October 1 at Hanover Street Baptist Church. It was decided to attend the church parade officially. After the business was concluded competitions and games were played. t A good gathering of members was present at the quarterly meeting of the Valley True Blue held in the Orange Hall on Tuesday. W.M. Bro. Graves presided, assisted by a full staff of officers. Visitors were admitted from Star of Oamaru, Triumph No. 9, and the Triumph Band. Members were urged to attend the jubilee church parade. It was decided to enter a team for the tug-of-war competition. One candidate was initiated. P.M. Bro. Gilchrist, of Star of Oamaru, thanked the lodge for its welcome, and mentioned that he was W.M. of Star of Oamaru for the fourth time in fortyeight years’ membership. W.M. Bro. Berrin responded on behalf of No. 9, and congratulated the W.M. on the manner in which he had conducted the initiation ceremony. Sec. Bro. R. Bachop thanked the lodge on behalf .of the Triumph Band, and read a very interesting letter from Bro. Bhozacklea, of Wanganui, who had listened to. the band over the air. The Pride of the Valley Ladies* Lodge was then admitted and welcomed by the W.M. W. Mistress Sister Currie suitably responded. After the lodge closed the Triumph Band entertained the members with several numbers, and a short dance was held*
