BASKETBALL
JUNIOR TOURNAMENT Thei annua] junior basketball tournament was held in the Drill Hall on Saturday afternoon. Special interest attached to the tournament by tile entry of a team from the Oamaru Club, which was expected to take home the honours for the second grade, However, the team was defeated in the final by Oaversham, the score being 3 goals to 2. The play in the second grade did not attain the standard expected, all tea ins playing below their true form. This applies particularly to the Oamaru team, which showed at times the heights to which it could reach. The following officials assisted—Mrs W. Ik Taverner And Mrs H. Mackenzie (organisers); timekeeper. Miss I. W. Knight; score secretary, Miss M. Coults; referees—Misses S. Foster, I?. Sutherland, K. Mercer, I. Mercer,*and M. Farquliarson, and Messrs J.
