Mr R. S. Black returned from Wellington on Saturday evening. Mr H. M‘D. Vincent, who has been associate editor of the Christchurch ‘ Sun ’ for the past four years, has been appointed editor in succession to Mr J. H. Hall, who is the new editor of the ‘ Dominion,’ Wellington. Mr lan Donnelly, who has been leader writer of the ‘ Sun ’ since 1929, has been appointed associate editor, and Mr Frank Hinton, who has been cable sub-editor of the ‘ Sun,’ has been appointed to the editorial staff. Mr H. A. Gilbert will be chief reporter. Mr J. S. Kelly, of the reporting staff of the Christchurch ‘ Press,’ was on Saturday elected a life member of the New Zealand Journalists’ Association and presented with a gold badge. The honour was conferred m recognition of his services to the journalists’ organisations for thirty years. Mr Sydney Poole, who has occupied the position of country traveller for Messrs Charles Begg and Co, Ltd. for the past seventeen years, has been appointed manager of the radio depart-, ment of the firm’s Christchurch branch.Mr Poole travelled to Christchurch by last night’s express. Mr H. M. Mackay, after a return from Cromwell and Pembroke, left this morning by service car for Timaru, whence he will proceed to Blenheim, Wellington, and Hastings by air taxi to-morrow. Latest arrivals at the City Hotel include Messrs J. D. Spedding, S. V. Knell, A M. M‘Donald, E. Baker (Sydney), Mr and Mrs E. H. Sill. Messrs C. G. Tansey, and J. M. and J. B, Williams (Christchurch). Guests at the Grand Hotel include Mr J. Kelly (Brisbane), Mr W. E. Reid (Wellington), Miss Buckham (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs TV A.Nicholson and Mr E. Abbey Jones (Invercargill), Mr and Mrs E.'Wilding (Southland).
