HINTS FOR KNITTERS Be sure that knitting or crochet is started from the right end of .the silk. Before commencing work draw the thread through finger and thumb. Notice which direction roughens the silk and then work from the opposite end.* 41 ways handle silk as lightly as posThe first stitches should always he slipped. Do not stretch work when measuring. The silk should be kept at tight tension. As the work advances, protect it in a bag of soft material or a large handkerchief. The work will then remain smooth and unsoiled. When the work is finished place a soft clean cloth over it and iron lightly. This improves the appearance. Knitted and crocheted silk things need careful washing. Immerse them in warm water. Avoid < strong soaps. Rinso in clean tepid water. Squeeze out the moisture. Do not wring, or it weakens and roughens the threads. Do not hang up. Lay flat on a clean towel and dry quickly.
