POLYANTHUS AS A POT PLANT
It is not generally recognised that the polyanthus primrose makes a good pot plant and an easy one to manage for the amateur and for those whose gardening operations are restricted to the few plants that they can grow in rooms and window boxes. Specially tine strains should be selected for this purpose, with large individual blooms and good colours. A good loam will suit them well, with a weekly dosing of weak liquid manure a i s soon as buds appear, or if that is not feasible work in a little fertiliser now and again around the root of the plant. Polyanthus primroses love moisture, and should never be. allowed to suffer from lack of it. A little attention to this and a little nourishment will help to keep the plants in bloom oyer a long season, and will also help in keeping the flowers up to the standard size.— ‘ Manawatu Daily' Times.’
