ROSS CREEK RESERVOIR.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Can you find room for a short inquiry as to what is doing at the Northern Reservoir now? I came through the grounds last week, and found the one-time pleasant park-like grounds in much disorder. I had proposed to rest for a short time in the alluring shelter house, but a broad ditch now cuts off access to that favourite spot, and the whole place seems to be “ in the builder’s hands.” Can the water department, reserves-de-partment, or the Amenities Society tell us what is happening in that favourite spot?—l am, etc., Beautiful Dunedin. September 12. [The city engineer states that what our correspondent refers to is the construction of a new by-pass channel at the Ross Creek Reservoir and other Work which is being carried out for the protection of the reservoir _ against flood damage. Further work is also in progress in connection with the safeguarding of the water supply, and when the job is finished the picturesque nature of the place will be restored.— Ed. E.S.]
