PORT CHALMERS CLUB Tho annual meeting of tlio Port Chalmers Club last night was presided over by Mr W. Corbett (president). Mr Corbett said ho had been president for about eight years, and he hoped the support he had experienced would be extended to the incoming president. ~ , _ , . The Secretary of the High School Old Boys’ Cricket Club wrote expressing appreciation of hospitality extended to tho hoys in a cricket match in January. The Port Club was congratulated on its team winning the match,—The Chairman said it was pleasing, to get suoh letters from other clubs. The Brass Band thanked the club for use of the cricket ground for band marching practice.—Received. The Secretary of the Otago Amateur Athletic Chib’s Protection Association suggested that the club should affiliate with the association.—Received. The Chairman welcomed the members present. Port Chalmers might be in a had way financially, but this club was not dead. Jt was pleasing to see the way the players were shaping, and he thought that this season they would do well. The depression was evident in a number of outstanding subscriptions, otherwise these would have been paid. The liabilities for tho ensuing season amounted to about £25, and an endeavour would be made to meet these. The club was fortunate in not baying much expense in the upkeep of the ground. This season tho unemployed would probably again help in keeping the ground in order. Their secretary (Mr T. Wilson 1 had done much for the ground and tho club generally. A member thought that outstanding subscriptions should be struck out instead of being carried forward from year to year. Tho Chairman thought the incoming committee would deal favourably with that. Ho emphasised tho value of the help received from the lady supporters of the club. The election of officers resulted: — Mr A. E. Ansell, M.P., patron; Mr D. Middleton, president; Messrs N. Dodds, E. Tiffany, W. Culbert. W. Corhotb D, Forsyth, H. Bows, J. Crawford, R. Ward, J. Hope. E. Harraway, Dr R. Edgar, and Dr A. B. Roy, vicepresidents : Mr T. B. Wilson, secretary; Mr B. Braithwaite, assistant secretary? Mr J. H. Crawford, auditor: Mr A. Culbert. club captain; Mr B. Braithwaite, depUtv-captain; Messrs B. Braithwaite, G, Russel. C. Walsh. D. Love, and J. Dunn. Club Committee; W. Culbert, delegate; club captain, team captain, and Mr B. Braithwaite. Selection Committee. - Subscription rates arc to ho the same as the previous year. The opening day was tixed for October 7. Mr Middleton, in thanking members for bis election, said ho could see no reason why the club should not he at the top of the list. . , ■ ~ The secretary was instructed to write
to the club euditor (Mr J. Crawford) expressing regret at his recent accident. The members resolved to minute Appreciation of Mr Corbett’s services as president for several years past.
