"NO POSSIBILITY”
QUESTION of professional leading ENGLAND ELEVEN Quoting “ one of the most prominent members ’’ of the M.C.C. Committee as its authority, the Loudon Evening News’ declares that there is no.possibility of a professional captaining England m 1934, as has been rumoured. The authority added that it is true that Jardine will not retain the captaincy, also that the dearth of first-class amateurs is disturbing the authorities, but that they never envisaged appointing a professional. . The public would dislike, it is declared such a revolutionary change, and it would be bad for the game from more than one point of view. The Marylebono Club will never take such a step, and there are still enough amateurs of test cpiahty to enable the M.C.C. to choose a captain. The authority added; “ I am certain that a considerable majority of county captains will vote against body-line bowling, which will thus be killed. With the majority opposed to it, the counties practising it can be refused fixtures.
