His Honour Mr Justice Reed, in the Supreme Court at Wellington, m a reserved judgment, held that the bequests in the will of Minnie Elizabeth Simmonds, late of Thames, of £4OO to wounded and disabled soldiers ot New Zealand, and £IOO to the home for wounded sailors of the British .Empire, were charitable gifts within the meanmg of the authorities, and directed the Public Trustee as the present trustee of the will to submit a scheme for the disposition of the money, and to submit such scheme for tho approval of the At-torney-General. '' William Ernest Vincent, hotel porter, pleaded guilty at Greymouth to a charge of theft on Juno 10 from a Dunedin dwelling, owned by Mr Frederick James Larhy, of a suit of dollies and a gold ring, of tbc value of £l2, and it as sentenced to throe months impusonment.
