‘MISS HOOK OF HOLLAND'
BRIGHT SHOW AT HIS MAJESTY'S
The uniform excellence in all phases of the production was favourably commented on again last night by the large audience which enjoyed ‘ Miss Hook of Holland ’ at His Majesty’s Theatre, The success of the Dunedin Amateur Operatic Society’s efforts is almost traditional, and the society has again staged a show full of merit. A most satisfactory interpretation of the musical comedy is givdn, and the teamwork of the whole company is commendable. Bather than a series .of individual efforts, ‘ Miss Hook of Holland ’ becomes a pleasant ensemble of music, dance, and comedy, lavishly mounted. The principals are Miss Isa Buff (Sally Hook), ,Mr Stan Lawson (Simon Slinks), Miss Daphne Murdoch (Nina), Airrßeg. Tapley (Mr Hook), and Mr Arthur Lungley (Schnapps). Tho piece has innumerable lilting songs and interludes of clever dialogue. Undoubtedly a feature of the production is the work of tho ballet and chorus, both.able and combined bands. They give zest to the show. ' The orchestra is also very efficient, Mr T. J. KirkBurnnand having developed a fine sense of cohesion between the musicians and performers. ‘ Miss Hook of Holland ’ will be staged every night this week.
