DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE

Buyers still offered £2 3s for Bank of New Zealand shares, but the best seller was one shilling away at the call over this morning. A sale of this’ stock at £2 3s 6d ■was reported after the call. A late sale of Commercial Bank shares yesterday at 15s 5d was reported, but there was no buyer quoting, though sellers asked 15s Bd. E.S. and A. Banks had a five shilling market, buyers offering £4 8s and sellers asking £4 13s for them. The quotations for Nationals of New Zealand were a little higher, buyers offering £5 8s and sellers asking £3 12s 6d, while Nationals of'Australasia (cont.) had inquiry at £5 ss, without sellers quoting. _ The inquiry for Kaitangata Coals improved to 17s, without a seller responding, and there was a closer market for Westports, buyers again offering 10s 3d and sellers asking 9d more. A seller of Colonial Sugars came on the market at £54, but there was no response. Kauri Timbers were for sale at 13s, while N.Z. Drugs had inquiry at £2 14s, with the best seller asking £2 17s. N.Z. Paper Mills were wanted at £1 Is 4d, and a seller came on the market at £1 Is 9d. Preference Smith and Smiths were offered at 12s, but there were no takers. N.Z. Breweries eased to £1 Bs, but no buyer offered more than £1 6s 6d for them. Okaritos had a reported sale at 9s 2d, and the market closed with a further seller at Id more, and buyers offering 9s. There was also a reported sale of Gillespie’s Beach shares at lid, the final quote showing a seller at Is and a buyer at lOd, The Government Bond section remained unchanged, and the only transaction was a reported sale of 1938 per , cent.
