KARITANE NOTES
[Contributed.] ' The surrounding country, which has been so beautifully green, is now showing evidence of the long spell of sunny, weather, and a good day’s rain would bo very beneficial to farmers and holi-day-makers, whose tanks are running low. Many camps are in evidence about# the township, and caravans are popular* It is suggested that motorists who visit Karitane to spend the day might bring water with them, as there are no streams in the locality, and many oS the residents, while generally glad to oblige picnickers with water, find the fulfilment of the requests of the many callers a severe drain on their supplies* Residents would be gratified if motorists would bear this in mind. Comment has been made on the faefj that although a motor parking areai has been provided at the beach, many motorists park their vehicles on tha roads, causing inconvenience _ to residents and others. The attention of tha County Council is being drawn to this matter. The roads are in fine order; generally, and the thanks of residents are extended to the members of tha County Council who have done so much' for the township, and who are alwavs willing to accede to any requests to carry out necessary works. The dangerous parts of the peninsula have now been securely fenced off* The beach has been in excellent order for bathing, and on the many sunny days has been crowded with bathers* who, in addition to enjoying the delights of surfing, have into use surfboards, canoes, etc., which hava added to the interest of the many onlookers. It is jioped to arrange for ait exhibition of life-saving with the reel and line during the week-end. The Anglican boys, under the control of Mr and Mrs Gerrard, who have been' camped in Mr Seeleye’s cottages, have been enjoying a wonderful holiday.
