EXPLOSION OF OAS
TWO MEN CRITICALLY INJURED
Press Association —By Telegraph—-Copyright.
SYDNEY, January 24. (Received January 24, at 10.35 a.m.) Two miners in the Balmain colliery were critically injured by an explosion of gas in a pocket. David Kerr and Henry Williams were boring rock with a hand drill when presumably a spark from the hammer ignited the gas. Kerr, despite frightful burns, dragged himself some distance to telephone the engineer at the surface 3,000 ft above. The cage descended, and the men were taken to the hospital. There is little hope of their recovery.
