POLICE COURT

MONDAY, JANUARY 23. (Before Mr 11. W. Bundle, S.M.) MAINTENANCE. William Barron M‘Neil.l was proceeded against by his-wife on a complaint for separation, maintenance, and guardianship orders. .Mr B. S. Irwin appeared for the complainant and Mr T. O'Shea for the defendant. Mr Irwin outlined the complaint, and said that the parties had teen married for six years, and tlmv had one child. Latterly the defendant's conduct had-been such that the complainant’s health had suffeved considerably, and she had been forced to leave him. After hearing evidence by the complaint and the defendant, the magistrate adjourned the hearing until February 3. James Radclifl’e was proceeded against by his wife, who claimed separation, maintenance, and guardianship orders. Mr R. L. Simpson represented the complainant. After the complainant had tendered evidence as to her circumstances, the case was adjourned sine die to allow the evidence of the defendant to be taken. lan Forbes 'Williams (Mr IL S. Frapwoll) applied for a variation of a maintenance order in force against him in favour of his divorced wife. Mr 0. G. Stevens opposed the application on behalf of the defendant. The applicant tendered evidence in winch ho sought to show that it was impossible for him to comply with the order, The magistrate remitted arrears over £lO and adjourned the hearing to enable the parties to come to some ah'angement over the amount of the order.
