Admiral Sir Frederick Field will retire from the post of First Sea Lord, having been promoted to Admiral of the Fleet. [Admiral Sir Frederick Field, who has been Lord Commissioner of the Admiralty, Chief of the Naval Staff, and First Sea Lord since 1930, and previous to that Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Fleet, has been in the Royal Navy since 1884. His career, has been long and brilliant.
