CLOSE COMPETITION [Fbom Ooe Own Rbporteb.] WAIKOUAITI, January 21. In the sheep classes at the Waikouaiti A. and P, Society’s Show, .which opened this morning, exceptionally large entries were received, while satisfactory entries in all other classes made competition very keen. . The judges in most instances experienced difficulty in reaching decisions, and it wate late before the placings were received. Although the weather was dull and an easterly wind was blowing, there was a good attendance during the afternoon, the public interestingly inspecting the exhibits and enjoying the competitions. The show Was efficiently controlled, and proved ohe of the most successful fixtures held in the district. Prize list;— DRAUGHT HORSES. Entire (four years old and over)'.— T. S. Boss 1, J. M'Neill 2. Yearling colt.—N. Bannatyne 1, 0. T. M 'Galium 2. CATTLE. —Friesians. — Cow, 4 years and over.—T. Hewitt 1, 2, and 4, J. A. Payne 3. Cow, 3 years.—Hewitt 1 and 2. —Jerseys.— Cow, 4 years.—P. J. Hellyer 1 and 3, R. Riddle 2. Cow, 3 years,—Hellyer 1, Riddle 2.
