PURSUANT to the provisions of Section 18 of By-law No. 23 of the City of Dunedin, Public Notice is Hereby Given that the Dune'din City Council, at a meeting held on WEDNESDAY, the 18th day of January, 1933, passed a resolution making the following regulations respecting the use of mechanical or other devices provided for the purpose of controlling traffic in the city streets. The said regulations are as folI lows; — i Whereas in terms of Section 18 of Bylsw No. 23 the Council is authorised t* make, revoke, or alter regulations, rules; and conditions to be observed in the use of any mechanical or other device erected by the Council for directing, regulating, or controlling traffic on _ the city streets, and whereas the Council has erected an automatically operated device at the intersection of Stuart and Cumberland streets, and accordingly hereby prescribes rules and regulations applicable to the use of such device in the terms following—viz (1) It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle, irrespective of the class of such vehicle, to proceed when the RED light is showing in front of him in the direction of his approach. The RED light therefore shall be deemed to be an indication to such driver to stop at the stop line marked on the carriageway across his line of direction. (2) The display of the GREEN light shall be deemed to' be an judication to proceed. (3) The display of the AMBER light shall be regarded as a preparatory signal indicating that a change m the light i* about to take place, and thus warning 1 the driver to be ’ prepared either to proceed or to stop, as the change about to be made may indicate. (4) The provisions of the foregoing regulations are modified by the following (a) It shall not be deemed an offence against the provision of Section (1) of these regulations for the driver of any vehicle to pass the “ stop ” line when the RED light is showing against him if he intends to make the “ righthand” turn. In such event he may proceed to make such turn provided, that ho strictly observes the “ off side ’* rule. (b) On approaching the intersection with the GREEN light showing in hi* favour for crossing that intersection the “ right-hand ” turn is forbidden, G. A. LEWIN. Town Clerk.
